I’m Elaine Hickmott and my mission is to enable science and engineering talent around the world appreciate and develop their broad-ranging skills and expertise. The aim is to help scientists and engineers break free of the shackles of intimate technical details; bringing global prosperity, social change, personal growth and cool career opportunities.
My story: a PhD in chemistry launched me. Manufacturing and business inspired me. Curiosity and pro-activity did the rest.
I don’t do superficial. PhD’s do that to you 🙂 . I do accessible, impactful and practical with a touch of the challenging and plenty of good humour.
My philosophy for learning and development is called The Diamond Effect. Based on real-life experience and complementary research it’s an approach which enables scientists and engineers to…
- build resilience through a foundation of skills as solid as technical expertise
- spread the excellence of STEM*-tastic thinking far and wide
- create value by utilising and making the most of people power
- stop their talents going to waste
Stepping back in time for a moment, my adventure began in manufacturing where I worked as an industrial chemist. Having been bitten by the business bug I moved into commercial and business leadership roles. I got bored and frustrated with corporate flannel* (aka blah, blah, blah) and decided to use my science, business and people development combo to start my own positive wave. EH Enterprises and The Diamond Effect were born.
*STEM: science, technology, engineering and maths | corporate flannel: to talk nonsense in a soothing, plausible manner
